I hosted 13 of my best friends online at my house. Refurnished all the rooms to hotel quality, gathered everyone's airplane schedules, drove to LAX 6 times.
There's something beautiful about seeing people face-to-face for the first time. They're.... real. They/re no longer just the art they posted or the long journal rants or twitter feeds, or the emoticons in Skype chats or dis-embodied voices in a Google hangout. They're flesh and bone and human. They're also fully present, no longer tied to chores or family business but completely free to spend a whole day together with friends.
